Re: What is the West Ham way?
Souness was wrong because he wheeled out the old bollocks of ' 'careful what you wish for' and seems to think we expect Champions League.

I like Souness usually but he's a mile wide of the mark.

Re: What is the West Ham way?
Should have asked Allardyce.

"Allardyce's reputation for using long-ball tactics has led some to question how he will fit in at West Ham, a club with a tradition of playing neat, attractive football.

But Allardyce insisted that would not be a problem: "That history that West Ham have I am very well aware of and we will play the West Ham way with the players we have got to achieve the ultimate, and that's winning football matches."

Re: What is the West Ham way?
The west ham way, is quite simple
1. We want to win things
2. We wan't to be excited, we accept this may not happen in every match, but where the squad is fit and the opportunity presents itself we would like to be entertained.
3.We accept under some conditions we may have to grind out results.
4. We do not want to continually respect a point, sit on 1-0 leads and play boring predictable football

Carragher was absolutely spot on.

Re: What is the West Ham way?
In todays football, for me it is to play like Southampton with good movement and one or two touch football, and opening teams up with the same tactics. All based on good technique in terms of first touch and passing. Also, founded upon attacking the opposition. And finally, a good smattering of home grown, academy products in the squad.

The thing we never had much in the past was the defensive resilience or physicality that Southampton also possess. Cherry on the top would be a "magician" type of ball player although that is harder with the lack of space given in the modern day Prem league but there are still players out there with a bit of guile or craft to their game. Someone like Coutino at Liverpool or Corzola (spelling?) at Arsenal or of course David Silva would be most welcome.

So the West Ham way for me, in a modern sense, is not dissimilar to what the Saints have put together.

Something along the lines of how fcbarcelona play and operate has a club.

Re: What is the West Ham way?
Look, I'm being the devil's advocate here but let's separate Souness saying something you don't like from something he said that is wrong. For example in his view we are a yo yo team.

As for Charley Farley's four points about the WHU way they are simply motherhood statements which followers of all clubs, not just WHU, wish for.

So I'll ask the question another way. What is the WHU way and how does it differ from that of other clubs?

No-one amongst the fanbase or the club has mentioned TWHW for years, it's purely media driven rubbish.

If you need to ask the question you'll never understand the answer.
